Faculty Development Programs (FDP)
The primary objective of FDPs is to enhance the effectiveness of PALS Partner Institute (PI) faculty in classroom interactions with their students to enrich the overall learning experience. These programs focus on two fundamental areas; (1) Teaching, by providing them a structured approach to pedagogy, and (2) Industry Developments, including advances in various engineering fields in applied academics and technology. Six faculty members from each PI are admitted to the FDP each year. We expect 192 members to participate in 2020.
Teaching FDP: This is a 3-day program for faculty conducted at the IIT Madras Teaching Learning Centre (TLC). Pedagogy training covers areas such as diversity in learning, learning outcomes, and reflective teaching. Various methods including Bloom’s taxonomy, outcome analysis, digital media, and flip classroom introduce them to state-of-the-art pedagogy.
Industry FDP: is a 2-day program that develops interaction between PALS Industry Partners (IP) and PI faculty. Industry speakers enrich their understanding of topics like platform IoT, trends in student projects, and information security. Each program concludes with half-day meetings with IP management to share their experience. IPs expect faculty members to share their learnings with their respective colleagues and students.
Covid-19 Impact: the FDPs are conducted virtually through online platforms.
